Certificate IV in Ageing Support

A Brief Description

CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Qualification Overview

Horizon2 is a specialist training provider with a training team of experienced community service professionals. Through this team of industry professionals you have the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support. Successful candidates will need to complete 18 units of competency comprising 15 mandatory core and 3 elective units. Elective units have been chosen to meet industry requirements.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

You will be asked to complete 18 subjects via online learning. You may also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning if you believe you already have the knowledge and skills relevant to a particular unit or units. An RPL application must be submitted at the time of enrolment and the onus is on the student to provide sufficient, current, valid and authentic evidence against each of the units. Where there are gaps in your evidence, a professional conversation with your assessor may provide additional evidence. Your assessor may also ask you to provide further evidence to substantiate your claim of competency in a particular unit/s.

Where gaps in evidence remain – that is that you cannot be considered competent on the evidence provided, gap training will be made available to you. For gap training, you will be provided with workbooks and given assessments to complete. It is possible that gap training might include practical assessments.

HOW LONG WILL THE COURSE TAKE?

This is a self-paced program so the time to complete depends on the rate of submission. It is anticipated the process will take up to 1 year and is mostly dependent on you completing the assessment so that your assessor can review it. We will move at your pace and support you to set achievable goals

Note: Some roles may require a Minimum Qualification level. Candidates will receive support from an allocated trainer throughout their training. Candidates will be provided with direct contact details for their trainer.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no mandated entry requirements for the program.

VOCATIONAL PLACEMENT

The qualification involves a mandatory 120 hour Vocational Placement. Horizon2 may be able to assist you to identify and negotiate an appropriate placement. If you are not currently employed or volunteering in industry, during your course you will be required to complete vocational placement so you can start practicing your skills in the workplace. You’ll be required to work shifts determined by your placement provider, and these can include early mornings or late nights, any day of the week, including public holidays.

Completing placement is compulsory, and you will be expected to manage family and work commitments in order to complete your shifts. You are required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of placement to satisfy this component of your qualification

PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS

We understand that times can be tough, so we offer payment plans that can be negotiated with you via Pay Advantage or you can use HUMM EZIPAY. Applicants of a Pay Advantage payment plan will only receive certification when program payment is made in full.

We will not ask you to pay any more than $1500 in advance of any service provided.

SECURITY CHECKS

As you will be working with client groups who are vulnerable and at risk, you will almost certainly require police checks and working with children checks/disability checks. 

A National Police Check certificate will list any court outcomes that can be disclosed, along with pending charges. This includes any interstate matters. The certificate won’t include any restricted court outcomes, such as certain juvenile convictions. 

If you have a previous conviction, please discuss this with your course consultant to determine if it will impact your ability to secure volunteer work in the community services industry.
