State Finalist

For the Foster Carer Training Initiative, delivered with Anglicare Southern Queensland and Key Assets Australia. More than 800 carers nationally have completed a Certificate IV, Diploma or both through the program.

With Carinity Fassifern Community Centre, delivering the Certificate III in Individual Support so the Scenic Rim community could grow its own care workforce.

Also in 2026: David Bradford received an Honorary Life Membership from Queensland Foster and Kinship Care, recognising 20 years of voluntary service to foster and kinship carers. Care2Career now represents the Darling Downs South West region as a finalist in the Community Training Initiative of the Year category at the 2026 State Final.

Queensland Government funding

You may pay far less than you think

Horizon2 is an approved Skills Assure Supplier, which means eligible Queenslanders can access subsidised training through two Department of Trade, Employment and Training programs. Which one applies depends mostly on the qualifications you already hold.

Career Start

Getting into the sector

Best suited to: People without a certificate III or higher completed in the last 10 years.
Qualification levels: Typically certificate III, plus selected certificate I and II qualifications.
Pathways: General training or traineeship.

From $2.50 per unit for eligible concession students under general training.

Career Boost

Progressing your career

Best suited to: People building on existing skills who want a higher-level qualification or skill set.
Qualification levels: Certificate IV, diploma and advanced diploma, plus priority skill sets.
Pathways: General training, apprenticeship or traineeship.

From $2.50 per unit for eligible concession students under general training.

Career Boost eligibility & fees

Eligibility is set by the Queensland Government, not by Horizon2, and must be confirmed before enrolment. Subsidised training limits apply and funding is not guaranteed. Full eligibility criteria, fees and conditions are set out on each funding page.
